Sita is one of the most unstoppable dogs currently living at Karuna, but when she got here the things were different for her. With almost 100% of the body covered by a very bad skin problem, she couldn’t even sleep because of the pain.

We had to pack her into a big ball, and clean all the wounds everyday waiting for the skin to recover by itself without getting any more infections.

The recovery took time and wasn’t easy, and today things are a lot better. The gaps in her hair are no longer skin problems, these are scars remaining from the treatment, and nothing will grow there anymore. She doesn’t seem to care at all, now she is happy being the biggest troublemaker here.

Brand new Sita

The out-patient clinic was inaugurated in January 2007. Since then it has been receiving at least 15 patients a day, mostly community dogs and some cats. Those animals that need long and supervised medical care remain with us as in-patients till they are ready to go back to their area/homes. In case they are not fit enough to go back, they receive life time care at our shelter.
