Painted Storks at Veerapuram

Karuna Society has been involved with rescue operations of painted storks for the last 5 years. Thousands of painted storks migrate every year, around January, to the warmer areas of Veerapuram and live there till August. We have an attendant to take care of injured birds and chicks that fall from trees due to strong winds.

They are treated by our wildlife veterinary doctor and cared for till they are able to rejoin the group. In case they are unable to do so, they live with us in the aviary at our Wildlife Rescue Centre.
